Oregon Partnership (at orpartnership.org) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the state of Oregon promoting drug and alcohol awareness, as well as offering drug prevention programs and 24-hour crisis lines for treatment referrals and suicide intervention. One of the most respected non-profits operating in this area, Oregon Partnership has worked with both state and federal government agencies to prevent and treat substance abuse, especially in youth. Their stated mission is simple and focused: "Oregon Partnership works to end drug and alcohol abuse." Since 1993, they've been doing just that.

Oregon Partnership Services

Center for Education & Training

Oregon Partnership Center for Education & Training provides up-to-date, informative and effective training for local coalitions, businesses, governments and residents seeking to put prevention to work at the community level. The Training & Community Education Resource Center offers workshops, seminars and personal training and mentoring to strengthen community collaboration, enhance intergovernmental coordination, and enable communities to conduct data-driven, research-based alcohol and drug prevention planning.

Crisis lines

Oregon Partnership operates several highly effective 24-hour crisis phone lines, each targeted at aiding a specific group in dire need of person-to-person help.

• LifeLine: 800-273-TALK or 800-SUICIDE - is the state’s only suicide crisis hotline certified by the American Association of Suicidology and is part of the National LifeLine Network.

• HelpLine: 800-923-HELP - provides crisis intervention, including confidential alcohol and drug crisis counseling and treatment referral.

• YouthLine: 877-553-TEEN - is a confidential teen-to-teen crisis, counseling and referral line.

• Linea de Ayuda: 877-515-7848 - is the only Spanish speaking crisis line in Oregon. It is answered by bilingual volunteers.

Reducing Underage Drinking

Oregon Partnership's Leadership to Reduce Underage Drinking program is a nationally recognized effort to end alcohol use by Oregon minors - they've even been mentioned in the New York Times. The program is based on research from the National Academy of Sciences, and has been placed as a priority by Governor Kulongoski.

Parenting Programs

Oregon Partnership knows that supporting and educating parents is a absolutely key aspect in preventing substance abuse by youth. Thus, they've created comprehensive programs for parents aimed at this goal.

Resource Library

At their site in Beaverton, Oregon, Oregon Partnership has a great library of resources for parents, youth, and the community at large on the subject of drug and alcoholo abuse, and how to prevent it. They also have a variety of Spanish language materials available.
